This link is for a test to see how good you are at detecting phishing attempts. The almost certain answer is “not very good.” The test is ten questions long, and includes explanations afterward. If you don’t really know much about “computers” I suggest you take the test so it becomes clear how little you know about “computers” so maybe you’ll be more careful. If, on the other hand, you think you’re quite the cyber-sophisticate, you should still take the test. Possibly the results will confirm your sophistication; more likely not.
The very short summary is that if you don’t know EXACTLY what you are doing, NEVER click on email links. Don’t open up attached applications, don’t follow email links, just don’t do it. If you miss a legitimate e-card about puppies or bunnies, well, that’s the price you pay for security. Which may sound extreme, but if you lose all the money in your checking account it will sound a good deal less extreme afterward, I promise you.
